I took five golfers to the Vendee region of France to assess the suitability of the courses.  The group was topped by Gary who played off 5 and spread down to myself who is a once-a-year golfer.  I was able to play round all the courses yet they were still challenging enough for Gary.  His comments accompany the descriptions of the courses we played.

Joan and Robin are keen players of French courses and their comments are included.

"Having played golf in Ireland, Spain and most of England, I found the courses in France equal to any in the countries above. The advantage it has is without doubt the climate, particularly in this area which is a sun trap.   Played early in the week the courses were un-crowded, easy to book and relaxed with regard to dress code.    Staff were all very friendly as were the people we came across on and off the golf course.   The courses themselves were in excellent condition, particularly for the time of year and offer excellent value for money.  

They will suit all levels of golfers and wont destroy your game if you are not playing well.              You will have the advantage of playing a different course each day, but if you stuck to playing two courses twice you won't go wrong and in particular Golf du Petit Chene and La Pree La Rochelle.  The latter is one of the nicest courses I have played.    

Because we played six courses which were in excellent condition I am convinced that if you chose to play any of the others you will find the same.    I wouldn't hesitate to bring a group to play in the Vendee.  It has a wonderful land-lock feel about it, sadly missing in England."
